In Abidjan, the LouiSimone Guirandou Gallery has achieved its bet of modernity

LouiSimone Guirandou Gallery is the new gallery of Simone Guirandou. Started by Mrs Guirandou in 1985 with the creation of one of the first galleries of Côte d’Ivoire, The Arts Pluriels Gallery, The LouiSimone Guirandou Gallery is part of the continuity of 30 years of activities in the service of the promotion of contemporary arts in Côte d’Ivoire and more broadly internationally.

The five continents at Galerie Arts Pluriels

In 2012, for the 25th anniversary of the Arts Pluriels Gallery, Mrs Guirandou edited a book named The Five Continents at Galerie Arts Pluriels. A book that retraces her career as Galerist.

We are not so amazed to discover that big names such as Jacques Stenka, Augustin Kassi, Monné Bou, Tamsir Dia, Michel Kodjo, Youssouf Bath, Werewere Liking … were presented to the public during exhibitions sponsored by Ivorian figures such as Henriette Dagri Diabaté then Minister of Culture, Governor Guy Nairay, Director of Cabinet of President Félix Houphouët Boigny or the First Lady, Madame Thérèse Houphouët-Boigny.
We realize her generosity and her sensitivity to welcome artists from all horizons and mediums, to make her gallery a place of discovery, reflection, learning for students, initiated or uninitiated, a space of exchanges and meetings.

An avant-garde gallery that has adapted to the era of its time to become in December 2015, the LouiSimone Guirandou Gallery. A name which is an hyphen between two stories, two paths, two lives, two names … Louis, that of his late husband, and Simone, her name, united through the “S”.

A beautiful tribute to a new place that combines simplicity, neutrality and natural in the image of Mrs Guirandou. A modern and eco-responsible space that welcomes artists with a modern vision, dynamic and that proposes original concepts and artistic collaborations. Artists such as Ousmane Mbaye, Nu Barreto, Touré Méderic, Issa Diabaté, Hien Macline, Jean Servais Somian, Helene Bondurand, Loza Maléhombo, Charly d’Ameida … testify to Mrs Guirandou’s willingness to always take a new look on the contemporary scene.
